Villa on Lake Garda

The house, like a huge monocle on the fields of the morainic amphitheatre of Lake Garda, blends the beautiful landscape into a cinematic image for the comfort of the inhabitants.
The architectural box is sculpted according to the criteria of the bio-climate, so, for example, all the rooms are oriented towards the eastern exposure and a pergola, protecting the loggia facing south, is obtained by “cuts” in the roof and walls. The garage and the sleeping area are embedded in the hillside and covered by a green mantle. All the floors are disengaged by a staircase that develops in a large double-height void that leads from the shadow to the light and to the beautiful sight of the lake, in a twisting path that (it’s common in the historical town and city centers on Lake Garda).

Ying & Yang

In a very suggestive panoramic area of the city of Brescia stands a seventeenth-century building to which Massimo Rodighiero, in collaboration with Arch. Riccardo Odolini, has given a new vision through a design of renovation and reinterpretation. The structure, integrated in the nineteenth century with a porch once crossed by the road, has experienced, while maintaining the existing context, an important project of transformation to become a family environment of charm and uniqueness.
The metamorphosis, following a previous renovation, of a large empty space, which was the porch, a living area on two levels, is the starting point of the project that, while introducing the contemporary style of comfortable and welcoming environments, aims to keep unchanged the historical memory of the place.
The double-height windows create a sort of shell that leaves intact the image of the external porticoes, framing the interior like a sanctuary. A false ceiling, detached from the interior walls, is divided to form a staircase, thus creating an open space on two levels that gives the feeling of one large space. In the oldest part of the house there are kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, from whose large windows you can see the outstanding panorama outside. Each room can tell a story for itself through a smart mix of different materials and colours.

Massive House I

The construction of a new residential villa in Gussago, in the province of Brescia, was based on the concept of energy saving, a topic that is receiving a great level of attention by the public opinion, which is becoming more and more focused on ecological and economic criteria. All the floors and external walls of the two emerging levels are made with prefabricated panels made by Styl Comp, equipped with a ventilation circuit properly insulated and insulated from the outside. This is an advanced prefabrication, with thermal cut and reduced size, that makes it easier to move and transport in areas not easily accessible by trucks, designed in close collaboration with the Studio.
The modern and clean style of the building is featured by the free openings, reduced to a minimum and tailored to the most favorable sun exposure and the generation of panoramic views towards the surrounding hill. The architectural solutions are designed to optimize the connection between the surfaces of the heated shells and their volume, in order to reduce energy losses. The volumes “glimpse” the sunlight, which stands out against the surrounding landscape, creating overhangs and shading specially designed to achieve maximum energy efficiency, especially during the summer. The bioclimatic concept of the project was inspired by the desire to reproduce the “Stone House” model, which can therefore make the most of thermal inertia to improve summer cooling without having to use expensive air conditioning systems.

Villa on Morainic Hills

The sinuous historic hills of the battle of Solferino and San Martino, the passion for vintage sports cars and Harley Davidson, are, with the desire to build and live sustainably, the inspiration for the architectural and technological design choices of this single-family villa. The use of loose polystyrene (ICF) cartridges has made possible the creation of a highly thermally insulated unit with a good quality/price ratio. The structural simplification, the meticulous spatial layout, the proper orientation, the use of bio-architecture compositional criteria and high quality components have allowed to reduce the systems to a minimum and offer maximum comfort. The planned energy mix (biomass system with thermo-fireplace, solar thermal and photovoltaic system with heat pump) and the low consumption (class A + building) during both winter and summer ensure maximum energy savings throughout the year.

The multiple house

The upgrading of the facilities aimed to save energy and the future possibility to divide the villa into several units were accomplished through the use of alternative energy sources (geothermal and solar thermal), innovative home automation solutions and a partial renovation of the existing stairwell. The project, with the introduction of new materials placed side by side with the existing one in a discreet way, has allowed an easy-to-read stylistic restoration.

Massive House II

The technological in-depth study of the methods, tools and materials used to improve the energy performance of the building envelope makes the Studio always very focused and always promptly involved in building high-performance housing solutions, with constant research and continuous development of solutions able to meet the new needs and guidelines of Eco – sustainability and Energy Saving. The design of the system was supported by the creator of the bioclimatic concept of the project: the construction of a well insulated building able to suit the harsh winter temperatures and massive enough to allow, together with natural ventilation, a free cooling of the spaces during the summer.
